Automated Flat Frame Acquisition

Taking flat frames just got a whole lot easier thanks to
CCDAutoPilot. No more fumbling at the keyboard trying to get all your
flats in a small period of time. No longer do you need to wake up at
5:30 am to get the perfect dawn flats. Whether you are taking automated
dawn or dusk flats, or firing off flats with your light box, CCDAP2
fully automates the acquisition of flat-frames.

Unattended Flat Frame Acquisition
At the precise time best for
sky-flats, CCDAutoPilot will automatically move your telescope to the
best location in the sky and take flat frames as fast and efficiently as
possible with no user intervention. If taking flats after an all-night
imaging run, at dawn, CCDAP2 will un-park your telescope, collect your
sky-flats, re-park your telescope and turn off your CCD's coolers.
Flats Now
In addition to unattended flat
frame acquisition, CCDAP2 also allows you to take flats when you need
them. Place you light-box on your scope, select the filter, bin mode and
target ADU level for you flat frames, and CCDAP2 does the rest. No more
endless test exposures to achieve optimum flat frames. Just point and
click. 'Flats Now' also supports sky and dome flats.
Dithering
To avoid unwanted stars in median
combined flat masters, CCDAP2 now offers dithering up to 600 arc-seconds
during flat frame acquisition.
